Poster artwork created as part of my Artist Residency with Splendour in 2019. I had been experimenting with the digital photo collage style of art while creating artwork for Jack River and DZ Deathrays records, poster etc and when it came to Splendour art I felt it fitted pretty well as the festival turns into another world for many people over the July weekend. I wanted to create something that felt like a dream or a parallel universe. Something you could get lost in. Illuminated yet slightly dark and mysterious.
The artwork was created in photoshop over many hours and with many layers having video and animation in mind from the start. Proud of this one. Big thanks to Splendour and the crew for a fun year!

Grinspoon’s Album ‘New Detention’ was one of the first CD’s I bought with my own money as a kid. ‘Chemical Hearts’ was my favourite song on the album too, so when Phil Jamieson gave me a call to ask if I would be keen to do artwork for a 20th anniversary record and tour I answered “yes” pretty quickly! Phil’s a legend and I’m thankful he’s been supportive of my art. I worked closely with him on the early concepts using his idea of a heart shaped pill along with my idea of a periodic table for the dates and other aspect of the record cover.

This was a fun commission piece I did for Elle AKA Woodes who’s idea it was to gift her partner Alex Dyson for his birthday. Alex had recently released a his first novel in May 2020 which features a fictional music festival. Elle’s idea was to create a fictional poster for the festival featuring the line up and various little details that Alex created in the book. It was really fun to work on and I was stoked to see both Elle and Alex love the finished print.

The concept for festival art direction this year was inspired by ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’, a movie that was prominent in my years growing up a kid. With Grow Your Own we always try to tell a story through the artwork and reflect not only the music that is curated for the year but The Growers aspect as well. This year we featured local bee keepers hence the bee’s. I also was inspired by old Big Day Out posters with bold graphics and the lineup place in parts of the poster that aren’t traditional. I also wanted the poster to reflect that time of year with so many people on hot East Coast Summer road trips..
The second poster was for an art show I curated at the festival featuring some of the Artists playing as well Artists who create rock posters and records covers.
Poster for the first Electric Lady shows in 2017 curated by Jack River.
The second was for a the Electric Lady stage at Mountain Sounds Festival 2018 and the third for a special Electric Lady show at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018

Dunies kept going from strength to strength in 2017. Selling out every tour they put on sale quickly. This one was jacked up to bigger venues with solid supports and the band wanted the poster to reflect that. Big names stylised to literally represent the each band. I had fun with the typography on this one.
Grow Your Own’s second birthday. Was good to see the festival grow a lot bigger from the first year we put it on. Always so much fun creating the poster artwork knowing the next phase is using it to build a bigger elements from it for the festival site. Always a fun one in the hometown.

This was one of the first ever poster I made not illustrating by hand first. I started building this in Photoshop from scratch, creating thew graphic elements the same as I would draw them by hand at the time. I added paint textures I had made by hand also. There were so many layers with all the shadows and glows that it was crazy for me to stop working on it in case I forgot where things were. I think it took me all up nearly 2 weeks to make it. Another poster I created while at Mambo.
Poster for an all Australian Lineup Day at New York’s Summerstage event in 2012. I was working at Mambo at the time as a young graphic artist, and I was pretty stoked to have the chance to do a poster for a festival overseas.
